Description
Under general supervision, troubleshoot process automation solutions to support Operators and Process Engineers.
- Troubleshoot discrete, continuous and advanced control, controller equipment and software, and the HMI
- Investigate the root cause(s) of poor performing processes, identify any process automation contributors, and execute corrective actions
- Troubleshoot alarm systems
- Troubleshoot basic process instrumentation (basic sensors and actuation)
- Troubleshoot PCS industrial communication networks and the plant historian
- Perform other duties as required
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED and seven (7) years of Engineering experience relevant to Process Automation, OR
- Bachelor's degree in a Scientific discipline and three (3) years of Engineering experience relevant to Process Automation, OR
- Master's degree in a Scientific discipline and two (2) years of Engineering experience relevant to Process Automation
Preferred
- HMI/PLC and/or DCS programming and troubleshooting experience.
- Experience in DeltaV, Programming Knowledge, Logic and HMI.
- Experience in Rockwell Automation Products such as MicroLogix, CompactLogix, ControlLogix, RSLogix 500, RSLogix 5000 and Studio 5000.
- Proficiency in Factory Talk View ME and SE Enterprise, Alarm creation and management, HMI development.
- Proficiency in OSiSoft, PI Data acquisition.
- Proficiency in APC knowledge, OCS Metso.
- Proficiency in Networking, Devicenet, Modbus and Ethernet IP.
- Advanced P&IDs knowledge.
- Knowledge of building Workstations and Servers (Physical and Virtual)
- Intermediate understanding of instrumentation.
- Basic Process Knowledge in the mining industry.
Criteria/Conditions
- Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
- Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
- Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
- Work is in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and see
- Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects up to thirty (30) pounds during the course of the workday
- Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required
